Job 40:9, 14
“Do you have an arm like God’s, and can your voice thunder like his?…Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you.”
Luke 6:6, 10-11
“On another Sabbath [Jesus] went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shrivelled…He looked around at them all, and then said to the man, ‘Stretch out your hand.’ He did so, and his hand was completely restored.”
Isaiah 41:10-13
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Saviour God, you sustain all life by your righteousness, holding our fragile world with your gentle touch.
When we rely on the work of our hands to save us, we find our strength withered and efforts futile. In dignity your word upholds us, clasping our shame in order to heal.
Stretch your holy arm over us and restore us. Lend us your power as we reach for you.
We pray this in the strong name of Jesus Christ, who by his bound and pierced right hand extended salvation to us.
