“I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.”
“Then Jesus said, ‘Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.’”
“He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back.”
Almighty God, the door to your throne room swings wide as your children approach.
You bend down to hear our faint whispers and urgent appeals. Like knowing the intricacies of the ear’s design, you are acutely aware of the complexities of our heart’s cry.
More than being heard, may we desire to be faithful listeners. Awaken us to the sound of your voice—instruct our deaf souls to respond to your commands.
For the sake of Jesus we ask this, who was attentive to your call and sang your words to wake our heedless race.
