Isaiah 51:16
“I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand—I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations for the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people.’”

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

Luke 1:35
“The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.  So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.’”

Lord Most High, we feel your benevolent presence stretched out in blessing over us.

Resting in the shadow of your hand disperses all our fears.  As you cast your Spirit upon us we receive new birth.

Overshadow all that is uncreated within us, and live in us by your power.  May we be a shelter to the helpless because in love you have covered us.

For the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ we ask this, the miracle of the shadow of your hand upon a willing heart.
