Gates

Judges 16:2-4
“The people of Gaza were told, ‘Samson is here!’  So they surrounded the place and lay in wait for him all night at the city gate.  They made no move during the night, saying, ‘At dawn we’ll kill him.’  But Samson lay there only until the middle of the night.  Then he got up and took hold of the doors of the city gate, together with the two posts, and tore them loose, bar and all.  He lifted them to his shoulders and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron.”

Psalm 107:15-16
“Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind, for he breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.”

Micah 2:13
“One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out.  Their king will pass through before them, the Lord at their head.”

Mighty God, we praise you for your great acts of power on our behalf.

falling gate Castle Vajdahunjad in Budapest HungaryYou break through barricades that keep us imprisoned.  Despite the iron bars imposed by doubt and circumstance, you forge the way to freedom.

By your strength and mercy release us from the city of sin.  Lead us out with glad songs to a place of joy.

We ask this in the name of Christ, who broke through the gates of hell for us, carrying redemption upon his shoulders.
