2 Kings 6:15-17
“When the servant of the man of God go up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. ‘Oh, my lord, what shall we do?’ the servant asked. ‘Don’t be afraid,’ the prophet answered. ‘Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.’ And Elisha prayed, ‘O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.’ Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
Revelation 19:11-12a, 13b-14
“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns…and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.”
Romans 8:37-38
“…we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Almighty God, you approach in bright and thundering majesty.
You trample darkness under flashing hooves. Because of your victory we ride the chariot of conquerors.
Reveal to us the hidden power of your salvation. Open our eyes to see the inextinguishable blaze of Christ’s love.
With confidence we ask this in his name alone, who died in the battle with death only to rise again as heaven’s hero.
