“Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.”
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!”
“Like birds hovering overhead, the Lord Almighty will shield Jerusalem; he will shield it and deliver it, he will ‘pass over’ it and will rescue it.”
Tender Spirit of God, you cover your children with compassionate protection.
Like defenceless fledglings we do not see the snares of the Evil One, but you spread your shielding wing over us and keep us safe.
Quiet us in the nest of your sheltering love. In danger may we fly to you—in your soft mercy rescue us from harm.
We ask this in the name of Christ Jesus, who willingly fell prey to our predator so that we might be gathered close to the Father’s heart.
