Isaiah 40:31
“…those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Hebrews 12:1-3
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
John 20:3-4
“So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.”
Immortal God, you are the ultimate mark and the only worthy aim.
In you we find rest enough to run. With each stride in your direction we gain strength.
After weary hours of futile striving, sharpen our focus with the joy of the risen Christ. Renew us with a vision of the One waiting for us at our destination.
Because Christ faithfully persevered to make a way for us to reach you, we step with confidence into your presence.
