Exodus 30:22a, 30-31, 32b
“Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘…Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them so they may serve me as priests. Say to the Israelites, ‘This is to be my sacred anointing oil for the generations to come…It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred.’”
1 John 2:20,27
“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth…As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.”
“…God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
Loving King, the touch of your hand is our most worthy crown.
Pour upon our heads the sign of honour we bear as servant priests. Anoint us with awe and sacred gladness, consecrating us with the fragrance of your truth.
We raise our prayers to you in the name of Christ, the holy offering poured out to mark us as his own forever.
