Genesis 24:63-67a
“[Isaac] went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching.  Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac.  She got down from her camel and asked the servant, ‘Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?’  ‘He is my master,’ the servant answered.  So she took her veil and covered herself.  Then the servant told Isaac all he had done.  Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah.  So she became his wife, and he loved her…”

Hosea 2:14, 16, 19-20
“‘Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her…In that day,’ declares the Lord, ‘you will call me ‘my husband’; you will no longer call me ‘my master.’…I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion.  I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord.’”

Revelation 19:6b-7
“Hallelujah!  For our Lord God Almighty reigns.  Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!  For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and the bride has made herself ready.”

Precious Lord, you devote yourself to us with a pure and holy love.

brideYou draw us into places where we are alone but for your tender voice wooing us with the promise of your faithfulness.  With a lover’s passion you long for us to pledge our hearts to you.

Turn our affections from fond intimacies that ultimately fail.  With gentleness remove the veil as we commit to the only union that will perfect our souls.

For the sake of Christ we ask this, who died for love of his bride and lives to welcome us to our joy-filled wedding feast.
