Genesis 18:10, 12-13a
“Then the Lord said, ‘I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.’…So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, ‘After I am worn out and my master is old, will I now have this pleasure?’ Then the Lord said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord?’”
“While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. ‘Your daughter is dead,’ he said. ‘Don’t bother the teacher any more.’ Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.’ When he arrived at the house…all the people were wailing and mourning for her. ‘Stop wailing,’ Jesus said. ‘She is not dead but asleep.’ They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. But he took her by the hand and said, ‘My child, get up!’”
“For nothing is impossible with God.”
Mighty God, you created nature’s laws, and they are obedient to your command to remain or reverse.
Curb our cynicism so that we can humbly discern the voice of your Spirit. Reclaim our lifeless losses and in your power raise up all we believed was beyond hope.
By the truth we have in Jesus we ask this—impossibly born and unbelievably raised from death to life.
